Cookie Policy
Last updated: 17 October 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Quest uses cookies and similar technologies on its websites, web applications, dashboards, client portals, support pages, and related digital interfaces (collectively, the "Sites"). Read it together with our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
1. Introduction
1.1 Quest is a product of Canine Safaris Ltd. Canine Safaris LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Canine Safaris Ltd registered in New Mexico, United States of America, acts as the billing and payment-processing affiliate for subscription charges and related payment administration where applicable.
1.2 This Policy reflects the principles of lawfulness, fairness, transparency, purpose limitation, data minimisation, integrity, confidentiality, and accountability under the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 (Uganda).
2. What Cookies Are
2.1 Cookies are small text files or similar technologies placed on a browser, device, or application when a user visits or interacts with a digital service. Cookies may be first-party cookies placed by Quest or third-party cookies placed by approved service providers integrated into the Sites.
2.2 Quest may also use local storage, SDK storage, tags, scripts, pixels, log identifiers, device identifiers, or similar technologies where they perform functions comparable to cookies.
3. Types of Cookies We Use
3.1 Quest uses the following categories:
- (a) Strictly necessary, for authentication, session continuity, security, fraud prevention, load balancing, and core platform functionality;
- (b) Authentication, managed by NextAuth, for login sessions, email verification, access tokens, and Google sign-in where enabled;
- (c) Functional, to remember preferences such as region, settings, and display options;
- (d) Analytics, to understand usage, performance, feature adoption, and errors, subject to consent where required; and
- (e) Performance, to monitor page speed, responsiveness, and availability.
3.2 Quest does not use advertising, remarketing, or third-party audience-segmentation cookies. We do not sell personal data for independent marketing. On public marketing pages, Google Analytics may run only after you accept cookies in our banner.
4. Specific Technologies
4.1 PostHog
Product analytics on the platform. PostHog is configured so full capture (including cookies and storage) starts only after you choose Accept in our cookie banner. If you decline, PostHog runs in a cookieless mode without persistent identifiers. See posthog.com for PostHog's privacy practices.
4.2 NextAuth
Session cookies required to maintain login state and secure access to protected areas. These cannot be disabled without preventing login.
4.3 Google sign-in
If you sign in with Google, Google may set cookies or similar identifiers as part of OAuth authentication, subject to Google's terms and privacy policy.
4.4 Vercel
Quest is hosted on Vercel, which may set infrastructure-level cookies or tokens for load balancing, edge routing, and security.
4.5 Stripe
When you subscribe or manage billing, Stripe checkout or the Stripe Customer Portal may set cookies or similar identifiers needed to process payments securely.
4.6 Google Analytics
On marketing and public pages (not inside operator embeds), Google Analytics 4 may set cookies such as _ga and _ga_* only after you accept cookies. Declining disables measurement and clears those cookies where possible.
4.7 Cloud storage and database hosting
Quest uses cloud database and object storage providers (for example Neon, Supabase, and Cloudflare R2) for application data and files. These services generally do not place marketing cookies in your browser; access is handled server-side with session authentication through NextAuth.
5. Consent and Controls
5.1 Strictly necessary cookies, including NextAuth session cookies, do not require separate consent because they are required to provide the service you request.
5.2 For PostHog and Google Analytics, we ask for your choice through the cookie banner on marketing routes. You can change your choice at any time using Cookie settings in the site footer.
5.3 You may also manage cookies through browser controls. Disabling session cookies will prevent login.
6. Cross-Border Processing
Some providers (including PostHog, Vercel, Stripe, and Google) may process data outside Uganda. Where personal data is transferred internationally, Quest uses contractual safeguards, vendor due diligence, and access controls consistent with applicable law and our Privacy Policy.
7. Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect legal, technical, or operational changes. Material changes will be communicated through the platform or by email where appropriate.
